November 2020: District 11 Needs John Avalos to Pick Up Where He Left Off

The San Francisco League of Conservation Voters endorses John Avalos for District 11 Supervisor.

After sitting out for a term, John Avalos is back! John is a long-standing progressive advocate for working San Franciscans with a strong track record of strengthening public transit, increasing affordable housing, and supporting green energy.

From 2009 to 2017, Avalos served in the same position he currently seeks, District 11 Supervisor. Having termed out, he is now allowed to run again after sitting out for one term. During his time away from public service, he returned to being a union organizer, picking up where he left off prior to City Hall.

In his time as Supervisor, Avalos championed CleanPowerSF, fought to divest from fossil fuel production, shut down fossil fuel production on City-owned land in Southern California, and also served on the boards of the Association of Bay Area Governments and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. He championed a project now underway that will convert a MUNI junkyard into a dense, affordable housing community, known as Balboa Park Upper Yard. He was a strong advocate for safer biking in San Francisco and Vision Zero efforts to improve street safety, as well as other programs that favor public transit riders and pedestrians. John Avalos has a demonstrated capacity to work within the system to implement progressive priorities.

John Avalos is a strong vote for the environment, sustainable development, and protections for the most vulnerable San Franciscans.
